What Musement is
It is an Italian story. Musement was founded in Milan in 2013 by Alessandro Petazzi, Claudio Bellinzona, Paolo Giulini and Fabio Zecchini, with offices at Via Polesine 13, and in September 2018 it was bought by TUI Group, Europe's largest tour operator. At acquisition it carried roughly 35,000 products across 1,100 cities.
Today it lives inside TUI Destination Experiences: excursions, activities, tickets, multi-day tours and transfers in more than 100 destinations, with an in-house excursion line called "TUI Collection" and a "Green & Fair" sustainability label. The practical consequence for a traveller is that the same experiences are also sold in TUI shops and by in-resort staff, not only online.
Two websites, two catalogues
This is the first point of friction. One inventory has two shopfronts: musement.com and tuimusement.com. The Amalfi Coast page on musement.com showed 12 items, the one on tuimusement.com showed 37, both read. The currencies offered change with the market too.
The difference is not cosmetic. Open only the first of the two, conclude that there is nothing on this coast, and you have seen a third of what is on sale. Before writing the platform off, check both pages.
Amalfi departures are the most solid part of Musement's coastal catalogue; Positano and Praiano appear mainly on the listings heading to Capri.
The published prices
The figures read are in US dollars, because the catalogue we could consult was the US one, and they are per person unless stated: from USD 76 for the four to eight hour "Amalfi Coast by sea and land" format, which showed 4.5 out of 5 from 156 reviews; USD 123 for the eleven-hour Amalfi and Positano day, in English and Italian; USD 175 for the small-group trip out of Amalfi; USD 194 for the full-day boat trip to Capri from Positano or Praiano; and USD 1,044 per boat for a six-hour private trip with pickup included. Every listing seen carried free cancellation.
Watch the currency. A dollar price paid on a euro card still goes through your bank's conversion, and the final figure will not be the one displayed. If you are booking from Europe, make sure the site is showing euro before you complete the purchase.
Booking, cancellation and the price guarantee
You book on the web or in the app and the whole amount is charged immediately, by Visa, Mastercard, American Express, iDEAL, PayPal, Google Pay or Apple Pay. No deferred payment option exists.
Cancellation is set per activity: the typical windows for a full refund are 24, 48 or 72 hours before departure, and listings labelled non-refundable cannot be amended either. You cancel through the "My Booking" area. If TUI is the party that cancels, you choose between a full refund and an alternative.
The Best Value Guarantee promises the difference back if, within 24 hours of booking, you find the identical excursion cheaper elsewhere and can prove it; special offers and unlicensed providers are excluded.
App, support and reviews
The "TUI Musement: Tours & Tickets" app exists for iOS and Android; we captured no store rating worth quoting.
Support is reached by email at support@musement.com and support@tuimusement.com and by phone on +39 02 8148 0473, alongside US and UK numbers. The phone lines run on weekdays from 10am to 6pm Italian time, chat from 8am to 10pm, and written complaints must arrive within 28 days of the excursion. It is the only one of the four platforms without continuous support, and on this coast trouble almost always turns up at eight on a pier or at nine on a Sunday evening.
The pages we could consult do not state how the review system works, so we cannot say whether only verified buyers may review, as they can on the other three platforms. That is a gap, and we flag it as one.
Externally, Trustpilot gives musement.com 4.0 out of 5 from 32,300 reviews, 62% five star and 7% one star, while the separate tuimusement.com profile sits at 3.3 out of 5 from around 340 reviews, both read. Positive reviews highlight fast booking, the absence of fees, competitive prices and instant confirmation. Negative ones return to website and payment glitches, availability shown but not honoured, slow support on cancellations and refunds, and the occasional operator no-show.
Several Amalfi Coast listings sold by Musement actually depart from Sorrento: check the embarkation port before you book the hotel.
Is it cheaper to book direct?
As on the other platforms, the commission is paid by the supplier rather than by you, and we found no published operator rate cards that would allow a verifiable comparison with the same trip bought at the pier. The Best Value Guarantee does, however, quietly concede that the same product may cost less elsewhere: use it, it is in writing.
Who it suits, and the alternatives
Musement suits travellers already booked with TUI, anyone who prefers to settle up once, and anyone who likes a short, filtered catalogue. It suits you less if you need a specific high-season date, want to cancel late, or may need to speak to somebody on a Sunday.
