Who they are
Boat Experience Positano is the trading name of GE.MA. S.R.L., based at Via Liparlati 58 in Positano. It is a small, family-run operation: two named contacts, Gennaro and Enzo, both of whom appear by name in reviews, and three boats. The founding year is not stated.
The most striking thing about it is the mismatch between visibility and evidence. The Instagram account has a very large following relative to the fourteen TripAdvisor reviews collected so far. That is not suspicious in itself — in Positano the algorithm rewards photographs more than bookings — but it is worth knowing that a heavily followed account is not the same thing as a heavily tested operator.
Where you sail from
The company address on Via Liparlati is up in the village and is not the meeting point. In Positano you board at sea level: from the Spiaggia Grande or the jetty used by the Travelmar and Alilauro ferries at the eastern end of the beach.
Budget for the climb. From the upper car parks or the SITA stop on the SS163 it is ten to fifteen minutes down to the beach, all steps and steep lanes; coming back up takes twenty minutes and some effort, unless you use the orange internal shuttle bus. If you have booked a sunrise trip, note that the shuttle is not yet running at that hour.
The Furore Fjord is one stop on the itinerary that also takes in Li Galli and Nerano.
The fleet
Three gozzi, all from the Fratelli Aprea yard in Sorrento, which is a good sign: these are hulls designed for this water, steady in the short afternoon chop and comfortable lying at anchor. The listed boats are an Aprea 32 semi-cabin of 9.60 metres with a stated top speed of 26 knots, an Aprea 7.50 Open Cruise of 7.50 metres and an Aprea 7.80 Open Cruise of 7.85 metres.
All three have a WC and shower aboard, plus Wi-Fi and a Bluetooth speaker — fittings that matter far more on a full day than they seem to beforehand. What is missing is capacity: the site does not say how many passengers each boat takes. The TripAdvisor product page mentions groups of up to five for the four-hour private trip, but that need not apply to every boat. Ask before booking, particularly if there are more than four of you.
Tours and prices
The catalogue covers the Amalfi Coast as a half day or a full day, Capri as a full day, the Furore Fjord to Li Galli to Nerano route, a sunset trip and a sunrise trip. The stated durations are clear: four hours for the half day, seven for the full day, two for the sunset and an hour and a half for the sunrise. The sunrise run is unusual for this coast and makes particular sense at Positano, where the early light hits the face of the village while nobody else is on the water.
On price the site is silent: the embedded booking system loaded no rates when we checked it. The only public figure we found is on the TripAdvisor product page, which lists 944 dollars per group of up to five people for the four-hour private trip. That is a dollar price on a platform, not an official euro rate card, so read it as an indication.
Included, according to the operator, are the captain, fuel, snorkelling gear, towels, snacks, soft drinks, beer and prosecco. Lunch and entry to the Emerald Grotto, quoted at around 10 euro per person, are excluded.
Booking and cancellation
You book online, or by calling Gennaro on +39 333 454 0602 or Enzo on +39 366 958 6260, by email at boatexperiencepositano@gmail.com, or through the site's form. The site is in Italian and English, and the captains are listed as English-speaking.
On cancellation the operator's own site says nothing. The TripAdvisor product page gives a full refund if you cancel more than 24 hours ahead and none inside 24 hours, with an alternative date or a refund if the weather stops the trip. Those are the platform's terms: if you book direct, ask for written confirmation that they apply to your booking too.
What reviewers say
On TripAdvisor the operator holds 5.0 out of 5 from 14 reviews and ranks 33rd of 88 boat tours and water sports in Positano; the individual product page holds 5.0 out of 5 from six reviews. We found no Google listing.
The recurring positive themes are consistent: attentive, professional captains with good knowledge of the seabed and the coves; boats that are clean and well presented; capable handling in wind; a willingness to take photos and video during the day and to help with restaurant bookings; and swim stops chosen away from the busiest spots.
On negatives there is little material, and that is the finding in itself: fourteen reviews are too few to establish a pattern. The only critical notes concern grotto tickets being excluded from the price and the occasional rough sea. Neither is really a fault of the operator, but the small sample is the real reason we do not push the score higher.
Li Galli, the little archipelago off Positano, is the classic stop on the shorter trips.
Direct or through GetYourGuide
With an operation this small, booking direct has real value: you speak to the person who will drive the boat, and you can negotiate the departure time or ask for a route that is not in the catalogue — realistic when there are three boats and two captains. In exchange you get no price up front and no cancellation terms on the site.
