Who they are
Diamond Cruises Amalfi is based at Via Don Guglielmo Colavolpe 4/2 in Atrani, the small village wedged into the valley immediately east of Amalfi. It is a small outfit built around two people: Captain Ivan Di Palma, who runs the boats, and Serena Cuomo, who handles the bookings. The founding year is not stated. The site gives operating hours of 07:00 to 20:00.
A technical note if you try to visit the site: when we checked the server returned a 403 error to automated requests while loading normally in an ordinary browser. If you get an error page, try another device before assuming the site is down.
Not to be confused with the "Diamond" seven-day cruise product sold by Amalfi Sails, which is a different company. We found no other operator using this name.
Where you sail from
The office is in Atrani, but boarding happens elsewhere, and in more than one place: the Darsena at Amalfi, the ferry dock at Positano, Marina di Praia and Maiori. That flexibility is genuinely useful, because it spares you a bus ride across the coast on the morning of your trip — if you are staying in Praiano or Maiori, you can board where you are.
In Amalfi, the Darsena is the inner basin on the western side of the harbour, two minutes from the SITA bus terminus in Piazza Flavio Gioia. Marina di Praia is a narrow inlet between two rock walls below the SS163, reached down a flight of steps: lovely, but awkward with luggage. Maiori's jetty is on the seafront promenade and is the easiest to reach by car.
Atrani, where the operator is based, is the next village east of Amalfi.
The fleet
Three boats, and they really are different from one another — which is this operator's strongest card. The Pershing 37 Cabin, about 38 feet, carries up to ten passengers and has a cabin and a bathroom aboard; the Mano Marine 32.50 takes six; the traditional Sorrentine gozzo takes four.
The difference is not only capacity but character. The Pershing is fast and roomy, right for a full day to Capri with a larger group; the gozzo is slow, steady and quiet, ideal for two people who want to sit in a cove without hurrying. Being able to choose between those two extremes is rarer than it sounds, and reviewers mention the Pershing's space and comfort often.
Tours and prices
The catalogue covers a private Capri tour, a coastal cruise with a stop at Positano, a sunset trip, shore excursions for cruise passengers, a water taxi service, weddings and photo shoots. Stated durations are about seven hours for a full day, with flexibility, and about two hours for the sunset trip. Everything is one hundred per cent private with a tailored itinerary.
On price the site is explicit about not being explicit: it says each tour's price varies with the route, and publishes no starting rate. Even on the TripAdvisor listings a figure appears only after you select dates. We therefore quote no numbers, because we have none that are verified.
What is stated are the inclusions: prosecco, water, snacks, towels and fuel. Lunch and the Capri landing fee sit outside.
Booking and cancellation
You book by phone on +39 366 311 1824, by WhatsApp, by email at diamondcruisesamalfi@gmail.com or through the site's form; the products are also sold on TripAdvisor and Viator. One small inconsistency worth noting: the WhatsApp number given on the site differs from the main telephone number, and the Facebook link in the footer points to a page with a different name from the operator's official one. Neither is a problem in itself — it happens often with sites built up in layers over time — but it is the sort of detail worth clarifying before you send a deposit.
On cancellation the official site says nothing. The TripAdvisor and Viator product pages give a full refund up to 24 hours before the activity starts. If you book direct, ask for written confirmation that the same rule applies: it does not follow automatically.
The site is available in English only, and the crew's languages are not stated.
What reviewers say
On TripAdvisor the operator holds 5.0 out of 5 from 161 reviews and ranks seventh of 92 boat tours and water sports in Amalfi; the "Private Full-Day Guided Boat Tour" product holds 5.0 out of 5 from 71 reviews. A local site, visitamalfi.info, cited a Google rating of 5 out of 5 in 2023, but we did not see the Google listing directly.
The recurring positive themes revolve almost entirely around one person: Captain Ivan is described as warm, knowledgeable and good at taking photographs of his passengers. Reviewers also mention the space and comfort of the Pershing 37, the welcome prosecco, stops at quiet coves and caves, the relaxed pace of the day, and Serena's responsiveness over booking.
On negatives, we found no recurring complaints. It should be said, though, that the review base is relatively small — 161 against the several hundred that other operators here carry — and that a business built this closely around one person inevitably has less slack when demand piles up. That is not a criticism; it is why we suggest booking early.
The sunset trip runs about two hours and includes prosecco and snacks.
Direct or through GetYourGuide
Booking direct lets you shape the itinerary and pick the boat, which with three such different hulls is a real advantage. The downside is starting without a price and without written cancellation terms.
On the platforms the picture reverses: the price is visible, free cancellation up to 24 hours before is the norm on most products, you can reserve now and pay later, and support answers in your own language. On GetYourGuide, the private Amalfi Coast boat trip with prosecco and snorkelling is the closest comparison for a day on the same coastline, while the private tour from Positano along the coast runs four to seven hours.
